Upcoming events:
This Week:
Reading - This week our shared reading lessons will be about summarizing texts that we read. I will teach the strategy "Somebody Wanted But So Then" to help students summarize the stories they read. We spent September working on story elements and this is the next step. Last week was busy with MAP testing and our field trip to Gibbs Farm, so we are going to spend one more week before guided reading groups begin to make sure everyone know what they will be doing while I work with student groups.
Grammar/Writer's Workshop - October will be "noun" month. We will talk about all types of nouns, but will start with common and proper. During writing, students are revising a story they started to include more details and information.
Math - This week we will continue with the addition strategies and word problems. Please have your student practice his/her addition facts at home. Please complete the Home Connection assignments when assigned.
Social Studies, Science, Health - Last week's trip to Gibbs Farm gave lots of. firsthand information about the life of the Dakota. Students are working on a small writing project that will highlight what each season meant for the Dakota.
